5 things to know: Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia

The final battle for the Black Diamond trophy is nearly here as Virginia Tech Football welcomes West Virginia to Blacksburg Thursday night, Sept. 22, under the lights of Lane Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and parking lots around Lane Stadium will open at 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Prepare for game day with five things to know for Tech’s clash with the Mountaineers.

1. Hokie Effect theme will come back with new layout. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange or brown depending on their seat location. Instead of a stripe like years past, this season’s Hokie Effect will see the northern half of Lane Stadium turn orange while the southern half is covered in brown. . 2. The car parks open at 3 p.m. Because the game falls on a weekday, the car parks will open later than usual. Fans are encouraged to arrive around 3:00 p.m. while Beamer Way will close traffic at 4:00 p.m. The team should arrive around 5:00 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

3. Hokie Village is the place to be before the game. The festivities at Hokie Village will be taken to another level on Thursday night, highlighted by a 90s-themed musical performance by Go Go Gadjet. Hokie Village will open at 4 p.m. and fans can visit different food trucks, check out Coca-Cola, Carilion Clinic, Food Lion and Cooper Cheese activations, play tailgate games, and get Tech Wrestling autographs (5:30-6 p.m.) . Hokie Village will close at 6:45 p.m.

4. Download your tickets in advance and get settled in your seat early. Fans attending Thursday’s game are encouraged to enter Lane Stadium and find their seats early so they don’t miss a minute of the pre-game festivities, including the Paratroopers, the team’s signature “Enter Sandman” and a special guest leading the pre-game Stadium Yell. There will also be a throwback feel to Thursday’s game, as video map content and other game elements will return to the mid-1990s, when this rivalry was at its height.

Fans are strongly encouraged to obtain the official HokieSports mobile app and upload their tickets to their digital wallet before arriving at the stadium on match day in order to expedite entry into the venue.

5. Be respectful and clap loudly. Gamedays unite the Hokies in Blacksburg and across the country.
