Go back about 20 years and you’ll see where the Big 12 conference went wrong.
Essentially, by remaining pat in terms of drawing in the top-rated programs to go along with the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners, among other programs in the conference, it failed to thwart eventual momentum from the SEC and the Big Ten. This is how we have come to today.
But as the Pac-12 shrivels to 10 following the departures of the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins in 2024, the Big 12 — with its new media-minded commissioner — can capitalize by adding leftover Pac-12s, including including the Phoenix and Seattle Markets, if possible.
Again, there’s a lot to shake up before you get to that.

NEW: Since USC and UCLA moved to the Big Ten on Thursday, 10 schools have contacted Commissioner Kevin Warren. No formal applications have been submitted, but it’s clear the league will give serious thought to adding anyone else – except Notre Damehttps://t.co/AiVWVQFKVw
