The Fairbanks Nordic Ski Club (NSCF) is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Head Coach to lead its junior racing and training program, Fairbanks Cross Country Skiing (FXC).

– Up to $57,000 DOE – 5 weeks paid vacation – $5,000 health allowance – Moving expenses covered

The position will remain open until filled. Ideally, the selected candidate would arrive in Fairbanks in late summer.

Program, Club and Community Information:

FXC has been around for 15 years, growing from a program with less than a dozen skiers to a program with 100 or more skiers aged 10-18 involved in seasonal and year-round programs in competition, preparation and junior. Level of development. In addition to the head coach, FXC also has a year-round assistant coach as well as part-time coaches. In addition to FXC, the Fairbanks Nordic Ski Club also operates a junior Nordic program for skiers through college, an adult course program, a biathlon program, and a masters training program.

Fairbanks enjoys one of the longest natural snow ski seasons in the country – from late October through late April – at elevations below 1,000 feet above sea level. The program’s host location is Birch Hill Recreation Area, known in the United States for its exceptional trail network and world-class facilities.

FXC has a dedicated space in the Birch Hill buildings. FXC also has a 16-passenger van and a trailer for hauling gear. FXC skiers compete in a full schedule of local races, as well as JNQ races elsewhere in Alaska. The best skiers in the program compete in the US National Championships. FXC coaches are part of the Alaska Junior National Team coaching staff. This is an especially exciting year to coach FXC as Fairbanks hosts the Junior Nationals!

The Fairbanks Nordic Ski Club, which has been in existence for 50 years, has approximately 1,000 members and is in good financial health. It has provided strong support for cross-country skiing in general and FXC in particular since its inception in 2006. Fairbanks also has a strong high school cross-country skiing tradition.

The supportive and warm community is what makes Fairbanks truly special.

Although Fairbanks looks like a small town, it offers great opportunities for outdoor recreation! From world-class Nordic skiing to running, mountain biking, road biking and countless fat bike and mushing trails, you won’t be bored here!

Along with plenty of outdoor opportunities, Fairbanks has a thriving arts and music scene and is home to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which has a cross-country ski team. Fairbanks has excellent passenger jet connections to major US airports. The population of Fairbanks North Star Borough is approximately 100,000.
