Watch seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher take soccer icon Zinedine Zidane for a spin in his Ferrari FXX

Let’s look back at when F1 GOAT Michael Schumacher met footballer GOAT Zinedine Zidane for a spin on the French circuit in 2007.

Two icons from the world of football meet. Former World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane recently retired from the world of football after the 2006 World Cup.

Schumacher also retired at the end of the 2006 campaign to serve as a test driver and adviser for Ferrari.

Fast laps in the Ferrari FXX

The Magny-Cours lap record is still in the hands of former world champion Ferrari. The German won the 2006 French Grand Prix eight times. He attended the races after retiring but had not been on the track since he called it quits.

In hot weather in 2007, the pair sat in the black Ferrari FXX sports car owned by Schumacher. This car is a special edition owned by Regenmeister and was donated by Ferrari as a token of personal appreciation. A number of personal touches, including his initials sprinkled inside the cars.

The towers were a fundraising effort supported by the two men for the brain and spine charity ICM.

After two fast laps on the circuit, Zidane felt impressed after riding alongside the German. He totally understood what it meant to drive an F1 car to the biggest stage of them all.

“It was a strong feeling, in fact, I felt like getting out of the car a bit. But it was a great pleasure to be with Michael Schumacher,” Zidane explained.

Obviously, none of the men were wearing protective helmets during the tricks. Zidane refused to wear the helmets. “I for one know pretty much what I’m doing and I know when I need to have one,” Schumacher concluded.
