YSS Department Beginning of 15 days of ski training in Gulmarg

The annual ski training program organized by the J&K Department of Youth and Sports Services (YSS) started here in picturesque Gulmarg.

The first group of 100 student skiers began their training in the snowy Gulmarg Valley under the supervision of the Principal Secretary, Youth and Sports Services, Alok Kumar and the YSS Director of the Gazanfar Ali Department.

Director YSS, while expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the training program, said the department had delegated trained officials and ski instructors from the department to run the camp smoothly. “The trainers are working under the technical guidance of Olympian Gul Mustafa Dev and the department has made the best possible arrangements for the accommodation and accommodation of the trainees in the scenic spa,” he added.

The athletic director further said that 100 students selected from 10 UT J&K districts were receiving basic ski training. These districts include Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Ramban, Samba, Kupwara, Kulgam, Shopian, Srinagar and Pulwama.

Relevantly, such courses are also organized for other districts of UT, and besides boys, girls will also receive this training on the ski slopes of the famous town of Gulmarg.

Hundreds of boys and girls are receiving basic ski training this season from the Department of Youth Services and Sports. The Indian Ski and Mountaineering Institute has also started various ski training courses in Gulmarg.
